Saje is a project based in Fife working to reduce and prevent domestic abuse throughout Scotland through an approach called The Freedom Programme.

The stereotypical image of abuse is a female figure with a black eye or broken nose, however in reality most domestic abuse is actually emotional abuse. Through consultation with our client and their programme participants, we have developed a more realistic and respectful approach to portraying domestic abuse.

The photographic style we adopted depicts a range of women representing those who have been through the Freedom Programme and have reached a positive destination. These images are supported with real stories and anecdotes.

Posters and flyers along with a new website have been distributed throughout Fife in a pilot campaign.

'This is the best campaign we have seen for years.' - Janet Henderson
